• The reason for her rejection was that she lacked enough knowledge regarding the Tourism Docket.

Out going Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has handed over his office to the new CS Penina Malonza.

The handing in comes a day after the new Cabinet Secretaries were sworn in.

Malonza served as the Deputy Governor of Kitui County between 2013 and 2017 where she was deputizing Kitui County’s first governor Julius Malombe.

Will she be able to maintain and better the earnings in the tourism industry? Her predecessor Najib Balala predicted that a full recovery would be achieved as from 2023-2024.

It is also A proud moment for the marginalised Kitui South area given that Kitui North has always taken the glory when it comes to cabinet appointments.

Ms. Malonza is one of only two ministers from the Ukambani region.

While congratulating President William Ruto on unveiling his Cabinet on Tuesday evening, he said that he is honoured to have served Kenyans for over two decades.

"Congratulations to President Dr. @WilliamsRuto on unveiling your New Cabinet Team. I am honoured to have served my country for the past 24 years, since being Mombasa Mayor, in 1998, to now serving as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife."
