John Allan Namu's name has trended today on Twitter. The reason? His connection to late Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, who was died yesterday.

But what is Namu's connection to the late Sharif? The father of 3 was featured in a documentary Shariff was producing but that hasn't stopped some from speculating about the motive behind Sharif's death, even dragging Namu's name into the mix.

The conjecture got to much that Namu had to defend himself on Twitter writing,

"Was interviewed for this important documentary by @MurtazaMehdi and Michael Oswald Michael was, 'behind the spider's web: Britain's second empire' which I'd also highly recommend. Please take a look!"

In a clip doing rounds online, Namu is seen sharing an opinion. He can be heard saying; "How it's been described is that there's been one rule for the elite especially the elite that's connected to power. and another for everybody else . I think I'll leave it at that," Namu says in the video.

Namu has commented about the reactions to the video on his Twitter page adding;

"Guys, here's the trailer to "Behind closed doors". It was directed by Michael Oswald and Murtaza Mehdi. All this information has been out for over a week."

The fate of the documentary is now something that people are asking about.

Arshad Sharif was a top rated Pakistani journalist who was shot dead at roadblock in Kajiado with police terming his death as a case of mistaken identity.

Arshad was shot in the head and killed by police after he and his driver allegedly breached a roadblock that had been set up to check on motor vehicles using the route.

They were driving from Magadi town to Nairobi when they were flagged down at a roadblock being manned by a group of police officers, police said.

According to police, at the roadblock, there was a call for police to intercept a car similar to the one they were driving following a carjacking incident in Pangani area, Nairobi where a child was taken hostage.

And a few minutes later, Sharif’s car emerged at the roadblock and they were stopped and asked to identify themselves. They allegedly failed to stop and drove past the roadblock.

This prompted a brief chase and shooting that left Sharif dead. Their car rolled and his driver was injured and taken to hospital.

He later told police he and his slain colleague were developers and were headed for a site in Magadi.

Shariff has been hailed as a brave journalist who worked tirelessly to unearth scandals.
