Ethiopian Yalemzerf Yehualaw won Gold after crossing the finish line in 2:17:25.
The 23-year-old Yehualaw's victory was all the more impressive as she appeared to trip on a speed bump with six miles to go.
ODM party leader Raila Odinga used his social media to congratulate Kipruto and Jepkosgei for flying high the Kenyan flag in London.
"Hats off to Amos Kipruto for winning the men's race and Joyciline Jepkosgei for taking Silver in the women's race in today's #LondonMarathon. Keep at it and keep inspiring our youth," Odinga tweeted.
President William Ruto put up a message saluting Kipruto and Jepkosgei for their victory in the London marathon.
"Congratulations to Amos Kipruto on your maiden London Marathon victory. We are proud of you. Well in Joyciline Jepkosgei for finishing second in the Women's race. Well done," a tweet from the President read.
