Following Hillary Mutyambai's resignation, President William Ruto has proposed Eng Japheth Koome Nchebere for the job of Inspector General of Police (IGP).
A statement issued by State House Spokesperson, Kanze Dena details that the nomination follows a promise President Ruto made while naming his cabinet.
Mr Koome, a former Nairobi County Police Commander, is the current Commandant of the National Police Service College, Kiganjo.
Hillary Mutyambai, who has been placed on administrative leave, will be replaced by Koome if the parliament gives its approval.
Koome has been a police officer for his whole career, working his way up to Senior Assistant Inspector General.
He held the positions of regional commander for Nairobi as well as the commanding police officer at Nairobi's Central Police.
Koome who is civil engineer was later moved to police headquarters to serve as principal deputy of deputy inspector general of police Edward Mbugua.
