Four people have been left injured after a seven-storey building collapsed on Monday morning in Kirigiti village, Kiambu town.
The building fell on a nearby houses.
Efforts to rescue a family that is believed to be trapped inside are ongoing.
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and police officers are on site to lead the rescue operations.
In a social media post, Wamatangi said several people had been trapped in the debris and rescue operations are still underway.
"Several people have already been pulled out of the rubble, and rushed to the hospital. Sadly, some are feared to have succumbed to their injuries. "
Among those who died were a mother and her two kids.
The victims were tenants in an adjacent apartment and succumbed to injuries while being rushed to Kiambu level 5 hospital, the police said.
