• Muchiri was shot dead by unknown people afetr his gate man failed to open the gate in time.

• The motive behind the murder is still unclear.

A businessman from Ndeiya, Limuru was on Wednesday short dead by unknown people outside his gate.

The man identified as Daniel Muchiri was killed just after midnight as he opened the gate to his house at Ngamba in Ndeiya, Limuru sub-county

Ndeiya sub county Police Commander Roseline Mnyolmo said Muchiri got down to open the gate after honking without anyone coming to open the gate for him.

"After hooting for some time with no response, the deceased decided to disembark from his car and open the gate and suddenly noticed a car pulling and parked behind his," she said adding that the thugs alighted from their car and shot him dead.

A neighbour, Richard Mwangi, said they heard the killers ordering him to open the car door before shooting.

"We heard them shouting, open the door, several times, and later we heard two gunshots. We walked out when we heard the thug's vehicle leaving," Mwangi said.

The neighbours and family members rushed him to Kikuyu Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Muchiri owned a barber shop and salon at Odeon Cinema, Nairobi.
