Kenyans from all walks of life have gathered at Kasarani National Stadium for President-elect William Ruto's Inauguration.

Thousands of Kenyans battled the Nairobi cold to secure a seat at the 60, 000 capacity stadium.

Credible reports indicate that Kenyans started making their way into Kasarani Stadium as early as 1:00 am.

School buses transported Kenyans from all the 47 counties to witness Ruto's Swearing-in ceremony.

Gates were closed at the Stadium at around 6:00 am, forcing a section of Kenyans who had arrived for the event to force their way into the stadium by jumping over the walls.

A stampede was witnessed at the venue following the large number of Kenyans who were trying to force their way into the stadium.

Inside the Stadium, thousands of Kenyans carrying flags and trumpets were dancing in joy as they wait for the official ceremony to kick off.

The President-elect will be sworn-in today, September 13, as the fifth president of Kenya.

The Inauguration come hours after Ruto and incoming first lady Rachel Ruto were treated to a tour of State House by Outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

Speaking after the State House tour Uhuru congratulated his successor, wishing him well as he assumes office as the 5th President of Kenya.

“My entire family and I join all Kenyans in wishing the very best to our next President Dr. William Samoei Ruto and extending to him our warmest congratulations for receiving the mandate to lead us as our fifth President." Uhuru Kenyatta said.

The President-Elect also expressed gratitude towards his Outgoing boss saying he is ready to carry on his legacy.

“Thank you President Kenyatta for the tour and orientation at @StateHouseKenya and smooth management of the handover process. I am ready to carry on with the journey to transform the country for the better,”. Ruto remarked after the State House tour.
