New Law To Allow Children To Sue Their Parents For Posting Their Pictures Online Without Their Consent

Did your mum post your naked throwback photo on Instagram without asking you? Well, you can sue her and have her fined heavily or even imprisoned for that. Unfortunately, this is only in France.

French parents have been warned to stop posting pictures of their children on social media since they might be able to sue them for breaching their right to privacy or jeopardising their security.

According to the privacy laws, parents could face harsh penalties and fines if sentenced for publishing intimate details of the private lives of others — including their children – without their consent.

“In a few years, children could easily take their parents to court for publishing photos of them when they were younger.” - Eric Delcroix, an expert on internet law and, ethics.

To make it even better, grown-ups who sue their parents for breaching their right to privacy as children could obtain substantial compensation awards, according to French legal experts.
