Stivo Simple Boy is the inspiration of this generation. The budding artiste has been using music to inspire the youth, advising them to keep off drugs.
In an interview on UpClose with Betty, the Mihadarati hitmaker said that his upbringing was tough.
I was born in a family of eight (but lost one of his sisters in Oyugis, Homabay county before moving to Kibra. Growing up was a bit challenging. School fees was a problem and after class eight I couldn’t go on with my education,’ he said.
At times we slept on an empty stomach.
Stivo said his parents are supportive and revealed that at times he was forced to menial jobs (mjengo) to survive.
He currently lives in Siranga slum in the heart of Kibra constituency with his younger sister Linet.
The artiste has developed a thick skin for trolls and he told Betty,
There are haters who brand me bad names but I don’t let them get to me. I always say that we were all created in the image of God.
