Police in Narok Town are holding a 29-year-old woman who burnt her two children with a hot panga because of a plate of ‘githeri’.

The minors (both boys) aged 14 and 9 were rescued by a good Samaritans at their home in Nairegie Enkare-Narok East Sub-County who reported to the police station before taking the minors to the children office.

The minor’s father Timothy Ndung’u said he was out in the field where he works as a casual labourer when he was called by his neighbours.

I had left the children under the care of their mother, Rose Nyambura, who is also a casual labourer, but was shocked to receive news from my neighbours that she was burning my children with a hot panga. I rushed home immediately only to find that the children had been rescued by the police

Ndung’u, however, said they had lived with her wife peacefully since the year 2004 when they got married and blessed with five children.

I have never seen my wife behave like this before. We have always been in a good relationship and she has been taking good care of our children

Narok Children Social Worker, Elizabeth Kasura said the children will be taken to Narok Referral Hospital where they will receive treatment before being taken to children’s home.
