I know this sounds ridiculous, but it is true. A pal of mine is now in deep remorse after losing a girlfriend last week on Tuesday in the most childish way ever. This is what happened, guys. The lady went to celebrate her cousin’s daughter’s birthday in Malindi the other day.

It is a remote village and to be honest, there are less shops. The bash was super amazing. It was the kind of a party that had the girlfriend, Tracy posting stuff on the ‘gram and getting pals commenting with envy, asking her why she couldn’t invite them.

That was around 3PM. Later that evening, at exactly 8.26PM, my buddy, whose name I won’t reveal got a call from the girlfriend. She sounded desperate and out of breath. Dude did not get the message right and since was busy driving home in the rains, he decided he would call her later to find out what was up.

Upon reaching home, he got this text:

“It’s over.”

What followed next is a wave of dejection that swept through his heart, a feeling of hopelessness since he had tried everything to fix their relationship issues. Could it be the usual tantrums that she would throw into the late night over the phone?

It was not. It turned out that Tracy had ran out of airtime and needed to be in touch with her parents ASAP, since her brother was flying out and she wanted to give her a surprise call just before he departed.

Since my good friend took long to reply, the girlfriend assumed that he was with somebody else. I am imagining what would have made things even easier. If my pal had known of , an app that lets you send airtime to any network, conveniently, he would have done it immediately and saved the sinking ship.

Instead, he said he did not have the guts to go to the shops get the credit for his angry girlfriend. He sulked too, and by the next morning, reality struck him even harder: he had lost Tracy.
