Akothee, who has now created a niche for herself in the flooded music industry, started her singing career in 2014 when she recorded two songs.

"I released my first single in 2014, I didn't know anything about airplay, I was just having fun, I organized a show with a few DJs I knew already @kaytrixx_ke was very supportive then, when I released my second single Pashe I met @mzaziwillytuva in Rongo when he had come for Mseto East Africa tour at Rongo University, I played the song for him and he was like 'when you come to Nairobi make sure you come to club Tribeka', so we clicked from there, the only presenter I knew was @mzaziwillytuva"

The self-proclaimed richest singer in Kenya and president of single mothers praised Jalang'o for introducing her to media houses which have supported her immensely.

I was very ambitious, so I asked him to organize for me a media tour in Tanzania, and because I didn't have a manager I asked him to come with me, then I did my first media tour with only 2 songs in Tanzania, East Africa TV, @skytanzania and @djtass treated me well, climbing the ladder I kept relationship with everyone I was introduced to by @mzaziwillytuva . He invited me to campus tour which made me realize my potential, then @a_opondo introduced me to @jalangoo heavy jakababa , who now introduced me to the Kisumu people my kinsmen, Jalango then introduced me to @radiomaisha, and all his friends and workmates I have heard @djjoemfalme play my music on his concerts and we clicked when I met him at Luo festival in 2015, well if you read carefully , you will understand that through the ladder the only thing that has worked for me is keeping relationships, no one will think of you if you don't think of them.

I came into the industry and I found the disease of play Kenyan music, play Kenyan music. I found djs fighting with artists and this has never stopped, so I push my music personally, then came the great @willisraburu with his 10/10 baaaas hapo ndio ikauwaaaaaa, most of my fans in diaspora found out about me @mwalimchurchill on Youtube.

Akothee's message comes barely a week after radio presenter Jalang'o called out Kenyan artistes, telling them to produce quality music if they want to enjoy airplay.

In another post, Akothee thanked DJs who support Kenyan music and said that she organizes her own media tours without her manager's knowledge.

I thank all the presenters and djs who have wholeheartedly supported Kenyan music. I make jokes out of this situation PLAY KENYAN MUSIC PLAY KENYAN MUSIC, I find it funny coz I found it here and I hope we find change, but we kenyan artists must learn the industry and how to live with people on these streets.  I have personal touch with your business, I organise my own media tour I call presenters and DJs personally before the manager comes in, its my shit its my business. I thank God all presenters are married none of them ever picked a scandal with me.

Akothee also revealed that working with Kenyan artistes is very hard.

But its very difficult to collabo with kenyan artists, the moment you keep contacts for 2,3 days , you are already treanding for all bad reasons, OMO TAKE YOUR BUSINESS PERSONALLY, have afew people who are ready to support you,not everyone wants to see you up their, but above all respect relationships, about content hiyo msijali, because even a song that has failed in tanzanai or nigeria is a hot in kenya 🤣😂, hiyo tutakutana na presenters and djs nyuma ya tent baadaye 😂brand yourself and understand your brand, your wall is your Tv chanel , your fans are your listeners, your yutube chanel is your reality show , keep it 100%REAL.
