The Mihadarati star comes from Silanga, an area that is located deep in the shanties of Kibera.

Police are holding a 25-year-old man following the murder of a 33-year-old woman in Kibra slums, Nairobi.

Police say they recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife from the suspect following the death of Mwandikwa Kimwele in Silanga area in Kibra.

Detectives say they suspect domestic quarrel to be the reason behind the incident. The suspect is expected in court this morning to face various charges.

In other crime news, police in Mombasa are investigating circumstances under which a middle aged man jumped off a ferry, plunging into the Indian Ocean on Saturday night in a suspected suicide case.

Witnesses said the man, who is yet to be identified, was dressed in a vest and black shorts, and he threw himself into the ocean by running through the back end of MV Harambee Ferry.

The incident is said to have occurred at around midnight when the man and other travellers were heading to South Coast.

The incident is reportedly the second to happen after another man believed to have been mentally ill threw himself in the Ocean from MV Jambo ferry a fortnight ago.
