A man has killed his one and a half year old son, before hanging himself at Kilala Location, Makueni Sub-county.

According to the Sub-county Police Commander, Timothy Maina, the assailant, John Muia, aged 29, grabbed his son, Justus Muuo, by the leg and smashed him on the ground, Saturday at around 4pm.

  "The man reportedly got agitated after a quarrel with his wife, Purity Mutheu, 21, and he assaulted the child, seriously injuring him," said Maina.

The Police Commander said the child was rushed to the Makueni County Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Muia, who worked as a farm hand later on hanged himself on a tree using a Leso in his employer's farm in the locality.

The bodies were taken to the Makueni County Hospital mortuary as police commenced investigations.
