The late Honourable Simeon Nyachae will be laid to rest on Monday, February 15, 2021, at the Nyaturago Stadium in Kisii.

His grandchildren gave a moving tribute.

They said, "We are all deeply saddened by our loss. Our beloved Sokoro, our friend, confidant and mentor, you have left us. However, we know you would want us to know that you are in a good place and that you are watching us all, with your contagious smile across your face."

Adding,

"You have raised such a beautiful and special family and we are truly blessed to have experienced

your wisdom, kindness and love.

You taught us priceless lessons in life such as the importance of waking up early and doing all that we can when it’s still and quiet. You preached to us ‘weka effort yote’ and to ‘always speak the truth even when it hurts’."

The tribute went on to say,

"We will miss your wisdom of many years of experience and the pure love of an understanding heart. You were always a great storyteller and we shall never forget visiting you and leaving with so much knowledge as well as aching ribs due to the laughter. This we shall always have as loving memories in our hearts.

You taught us the importance of family as well as forgiveness and unconditional love. You also taught us

the importance of standing firm in what is right, being people of integrity and most importantly that nothing in life comes easy except through working hard."

They continued,

"It truly hurts us to say goodbye, buy deep down we shall have comfort in knowing that this is till we meet again. Rest well our dear Sokoro. P.S say hello to baa’ba."

Nyachae's great-grandchildren added,

"We are sooo blessed to have seen our great grandpa. He always told us to call him Thatha and not Sokoro like our parents. He made a funny roaring sound to prank us as he laughed as we got sooo startled." 

Adding,

"He always gifted us when we visited him & especially if you give him a hug.... I remember I got my first 1st violin like that. Thatha - we think your birthday will be even more fun in heaven.... with all the celebrations...Go well .... Thatha... we will miss you so much!"
