Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has turned a year older today. The controversial politician is hospitalised at the Nairobi Hospital and this year's birthday might not be like the other ones, where he has gone all out to celebrate.

The politician's daughters have penned touching messages to him on his special day and his lastborn Sandara wrote,

'Papa, you've given me so many invaluable things in life and I will always be grateful for them. May your special day bring you plenty of wonderful surprises! I am lucky that I was given the best father in the world, a father who truly loves me with all of his heart. Happy Birthday, dad! @mike.sonko We love you 🥺❤️.'

His second-born daughter Salma also showered him with love and her message read,

'Happy birthday to the man who taught me to be wise. How to pick myself up after a failure and rise. Love you papa.'
