Remember the rogue doctor Mugo wa Wairimu who was accused of sedating women and raping them in his Githurai 44 clinic? Hope you do. The "doctor" will be a "guest of the state" for the next 10 days, after a court ordered that he be put in police custody for that period pending a ruling on the cancellation of his bail terms.

This is after the prosecution made an application to have him in police custody until his case is heard and determined. The prosecution had raised concerns that Mugo had not been attending court sessions hence delaying the case.

The DPP further said that Mugo was interfering with witnesses via his social media posts touching on the ongoing case. Mugo through his advocate told the court that at one point he was unwell hence could not have attended court sessions.

There was laughter at the court when he presented a document from a health center that deals with maternity and ultra sound services raising eyebrows on the authenticity of the document and his claims. Mugo had been charged with rape, operating a clinic without valid licences and masquerading as a gynaecologist.

Mugo, whose real name is James Mugo Ndicho, had been released on a 1 million shilling cash bail or a 5 million shilling bond with a surety of a similar amount. Nairobi-Milimani law court Chief magistrate Daniel Ogembo directed that Mugo remain in custody till September 2, 2016 when the ruling will be made.
