Following a petition presented by Lavington residents to the Nairobi City County Alcoholic Drinks Control and Licensing Board, posh entertainment joint Club 51 Lounge faces imminent closure!

This was after the liquor license for the popular watering hole was revoked on Tuesday, January 10th, 2017.

Earlier in the week, Apple Cross Road Residents Association in Lavington raided the uptown joint and ejected revelers who were having a good time.

The residents complained of being subjected to sleepless nights as result of noise from the club.

They also complained that drunk patrons at the joint were also a nuisance to the peace and tranquillity of the area's residents.

A letter from the Nairobi City County Alcoholic Drinks Control and Licensing Board and seen by Mpasho, stated that, although the board holds exclusive powers to either renew or revoke a liquor license, views presented by citizens on issued licenses, are a binding force and have an effect upon the committee's action.

“Serious concerns have been raised by the Apple Cross Road Residents Association regarding your noncompliance to various agreements that you have made in the past in relation to noise and Drunkard behavior by your patrons. You have emphatically refused to listen to their plight and have continued to operate in the same manner,”
