Seven years ago, controversial music star Lucas Mkenda was rushed to a hospital in Shinyaga Tanzania with a case of poisoning.

Later, he pointed fingers at people he called "malicious and jealous" over the job he got to campaign for certain top politicians.

Speaking to Maina Kageni on his breakfast show, Mr Nice detailed why his music career has been on a downward trend.

Mr Nice confessed to Maina that the poisoning incident shocked him and for a long time, he did not talk about it in a bid to first "secure my life”.

In a past media interview, Mr Nice said,

“I have been thinking hard, trying to connect the dots on what really happened. I don’t really know if this was a deliberate move by a rival and in that case who really wants me dead.”

Revisiting the issue, Mr Nice told Maina, that the people behind the act were just very malicious and jealous about his success at the time.

Blasting his detractors, Mr Nice told them off in a social media message which read,

'poltical campaigns are just a passing thing we should know that life continues after elections it is very unfortunate my affiliations landed me in hospital'

Talking about his current financial predicament, Mr Nice said,

"Since August last year, I have been doing some tours in and around Tanzania. I was also in South Sudan, Rwanda and Burundi just before coronavirus became a problem and I was forced to cancel the tours."

Mr Nice also defended himself saying that his fall from grace has nothing to do with alcoholism.

"I have never had an alcohol problem. Yes, I enjoy my drink but watch it, it has never affected my career."

Responding to claimed that he is undisciplined, Mr Nice said,

"Whoever accused me of indiscipline must have done something to me, for me to behave like that."
