Earlier today, word went round that an actress who goes by the name Elle Ciiru who had at some point tried out for Big Brother Africa was suicidal and had attempted to take her life because she wasn't successful in her bid. i also covered the story in light of the information that was available.

Elle Ciiru sought out Uncle Chim Tuna after the story went round and set the record straight. First off, allow me to assure you all that Elle Ciiru was not in her state of depression over the Big Brother Africa auditions which she successfully participated in and made it all the way to the finals.

When Elle called me up, she was distraught. She felt that I had betrayed her because I had not called her. I clarified that i had indeed attempted to reach her but couldn't and apologized profusely for getting the facts wrong but I ran with what I had and she was unavailable for comment or clarification.

However, this is what she had to say:

"I have been going through alot. My friend had been battling cancer and she lost the fight. On top of that, i had all the pressure from everyone saying that I was going for Big Brother and I don't even know how that story got out (to be fair, I heard from a reliable source that she made it all the way to the finals). Add to that the fact that my boyfriend beat me and even left me with a cast as a nice reminder. that's why the post i put up was about men. It read something along the lines of "You can beat me till you kill me but do not keep putting me through this torture". I have been depressed because I had too much to deal with on my plate and these stories don't even help. You're just hurting me. I have even sought professional help for my depression but please, what i need right now is to be left alone."

We at Mpasho wish Elle Ciiru nothing but happiness as she seeks help and hope that she'll get better.
