Fans of perennial Kenyan Premier League clubs AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia FC have come together in a rare show of unity to rescue a financially troubled player. AFC Leopards captain Martin Imbalambala was the beneficiary of this unity after he was thrown out of his house by his landlord for nonpayment of rent.

Fans from the two teams came together through social media to raise funds for Imbalambala. Through Facebook, passionate fans contributed towards the kitty and by noon on Thursday, over Sh45, 000 had been raised.

"Banter aside, politics aside and without saying much on the current financial issues that have befallen Kenya’s biggest and most successful soccer clubs; we have a situation and a grave one for that matter that requires immediate response. This is a Father, a husband and the sole bread winner for his family; besides being our friend.
