Controversial Pastor James Nganga of Neno Evangelism is expected in a limuru court this morning to face four charges relating to a fatal crash in Limuru last month causing death by dangerous driving.  James Ng'ang'a yesterday spent his night at the Gigiri police station after police declined to grant him cash bail.

Two police officers who were linked to the case were also arrested last evening and spent their nights at the Muthangari and Muthaiga police stations respectively. Simon Kuria, who presented himself as the driver of the Range Rover that caused the accident a day after it had happened, was also arrested and spent the night in police custody. Kuria will be charged with giving false information.

Further Ng’ang’a will also be charged with providing false information to a person employed in the Public Service, failing to report an accident as per the law and conspiracy to defeat justice. Two senior police officers based at Tigoni police station and police air wing Patrick Baya and Christopher Nzilu Nzioka respectively will be charged with conspiracy to defeat justice alongside James  Ng’ang’a and Simon Kuria. They will get further charges of neglect of official duty contrary to the Penal Code.

The move followed investigations and recommendations by police into the accident in which Ms Mercy Njeri, 38, died while her husband Martin Mbugua Ndung’u survived with injuries on July 26 at Manguo area in Limuru.
