She is one of the few women elected to parliament. Martha Wangare is the current MP for Gilgil after trouncing her opponent in the just concluded general elections.

Martha is not one to shy away from rolling up her sleeves and getting down to work. Check out some of her photos of her roughing it with the people of Gilgil.

After winning at the polls, her constituents threw a bash for her. They have already branded her "minji minji". It is a term of endearment for a beautiful woman who is easy to the eye.

Yaani, minji is a Kikuyu word for peas, when you cook them they are sweet and soft.

Martha took to Facebook to thank her constituents.
