This past weekend Kenyans went crazy with the weddings and it seemed like everyone you knew was getting married. But for Joyce Waithera, a banker and her fiance' Paul Waithaka that was not to be as their 1 million shilling wedding did not take place.

Early reports indicated that the officiating pastor had refused to hold wedding because of some issues he had. According to a source who is a close family member and who spoke to the Nairobian, the couple had not submitted medical reports as required by Apostle Jesse Karanja.

The partners were in shock. But according to the source who spoke to the Nairobian, the contradicting results made the couple believe that someone was determined to stop the wedding.

The couple were driven back to church at around 4 PM and joined Apostle Karanja in a closed-door meeting with their parents, clergy and best couple.

But the marriage would no go on as, by 6 PM, the apostle had canceled the wedding. When Joyce the bride was contacted by Nairobian after the failed wedding she said that God will fight her battles.

She also told the tabloid that she was trying to gather herself. Meanwhile, Apostle Karanja said:

Our church has a set of standards which must be adhered to in any ordination. The standards are not subject to discussion. You have to follow them to the letter.
