Mike Sonko is a man who loves the finer things in life. He has proved this fact many times in his life. While many times his lavish tastes have been proven to cost an arm and a leg, a recent purchase of his, is raising eyebrows.
Yesterday, at the Senate committee he appeared before, he was spotted wearing a Versace brooch pin. He had worn the designer accessory on the right side lapel of his navy blue suit.
While he might have been speaking about things ‘political’, some fashionable Kenyans were quick to note that what he was wearing.
The pin he wore costs USD 10 (Ksh 1000) when bought online. The description that accompanies the image of the pin states that it is a ‘Vintage from before 2000 and is approximately 1.7 inches’.
However, there is another brooch that makes the eyes tear up with its price. The Versace Team logo goes for USD 197 (Ksh 19700).
The description to go with it is; ‘Glamorous details and impeccable craftsmanship which carries onto their accessory collections. This luxurious pin sports the Versace Team logo, letting the world know who you are rooting for. Featuring a bar pin fastening and a logo plaque bordered with gold-tone hardware.’
Just this month, Sonko impressed many Kenyans when he donned a pair of Versace loafers that were estimated to cost Ksh. 10,000.
Clearly, Sonko, Versace, and gold go together.
