Times have changed. Gone are the days when a single mother raised eyebrows. And thankfully, gone are the days some "ivy league" schools woulf turn their noses up at children from single parent families, refusing them admission.

I m grateful that I am part of a generation that understands that sh!t happens. And Mike Sonko understands this well enough not to put his daughter Saumu under any pressure. He understands that comes what may, she will always be his daughter. And he will always remain her daughter's grandfather.

You see, Saumu Mbuvi recently had a child out of wedlock and revealed that the father of her child was not just a philanderer but abusive to boot. See what I did there?

And Sonko has finally spoken about the fact that his granddaughter was born out of wedlock but that changes nothing. He loves her even more. And loves his daughter and will fully support her. Here's what he said:

“My daughter had a problem with the fiancé… boyfriend. I love my daughter. She was chased by the husband… I welcomed her back into my home. She’s my daughter, I love her… she’s my blood. I cannot chase her away because she had a disagreement with her boyfriend. She gave birth… she’s coming back home… and I love her… I love the daughter Zaha… I have no problem with my daughter…and i am going to love her more… I love my family and my daughter… It’s a normal family problem…It’s normal part of love to have domestic issues. Wrangles are there , I cannot refuse my daughter because she has give birth,” Sonko said in part.

When he was asked about what he thinks of Benson Gatu, Sonko said that he will forgive him for everything he did to his daughter Saumu. He said he held no grudge against him because breakups and misunderstandings were part of love and every relationship goes through its own challenges.

“He messed up with my daughter maybe one day he will come and ask for forgiveness. And i will forgive him. If God forgives, who is Sonko not to forgive. I will forgive him.”
