A middle-aged woman is currently admitted at M.P Shah Hospital after being attacked and severely injured by thugs in Westlands, Nairobi.

Lillian Aoko Opiyo was on her way home after attending choir practice at ACK Westlands Church when the gang pounced on her at around 7:30 pm.

They reportedly made away with her mobile phone and handbag, which had only Sh30 and other personal effects.

Ms Opiyo sustained deep cuts across her face and has been confined to her hospital bed since the incident that occurred on August 13th.

In a , Mike Sonko condemned the brutal attack saying such should never happen to any Nairobian again.

He also promised to donate Sh150,000 to go towards her treatment and sought the help of well-wishers in clearing Ms Opiyo's bill amounting to Sh500,000.

"I'm appealing to any well-wisher willing to assist in this case to send his/her contribution to MP. SHAH HOSPITAL. The paybill number is 824600 account number 101608140000, once sent, forward the message to 0722886600 for accounting purposes," the post reads in part.

The Senator who is renowned for his generosity is also offering a reward of Sh50,000 to anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of her attackers.

The case has been reported at Spring Valley Police Station under OB.NO. 9/16/08/2016.
