In a country where parents insist that their children go to school as the only sure way to success in life, few are the young people who get the opportunity to explore and use their talents. It's the Kenyan culture.

Despite this notion, we get to see a few stellar, inspiring people who stand out...they manage to do the unthinkable.

I recently came across one such young, talented girl. She goes by the name Wendy Waeni. She's an exceptionally talented acrobat who has won the hearts of many top Kenyan and international public figures.

Wendy has performed for heads of states, has visited many parts of the world and does not seem to be stopping anytime soon. In , she explained where it all started.

"The members of my team used to practice on an open field not so far away from where I live, I used to really enjoy watching them and I found myself imitating them. It became a daily routine and with time, they accepted me as one of them, trained me and gave me roles in some of their routines," she revealed.

She has since managed to perform at State House during Jamhuri Day, the World Expo in Japan and Taiwan. Among the global leaders who have enjoyed watching her awesomeness on stage are British Prime Minister David Cameron, Ghanian President John Mahama and Rwanda's Paul Kagame.

It has not been an easy journey for her, growing up in Nairobi's Huruma Estate, Wendy did not have access to the resources available to children from well off families. At one point in her life, her close colleague passed away while performing a stunt. However, being the determined girl she is, she pressed on and here she is...she's on the fast-rise.

Wendy has been featured on the Jeff Koinange Live show, has met singer Jaguar, Classic 105's Carol Radull, comedians Jalang'o, Eric Omondi and Chipukeezy, Deputy President William Ruto, Dj Mo, Boniface Mwangi among others.

The standard five pupil says that she has to balance time between studies and her talent development. She does this by shifting focus...doing the right things at the right time.

Her long term plan is to pursue a medicine course in campus and become a doctor. I wish her all the best in life!
