Emmanuel Jambo is one of the best professional photographers that Kenya has ever produced. The guy, who is officially President Uhuru's photographer has an eye for fashion. He has photographed top celebrities in the country; think of the Kenyan Rugby team, Amani, Wyre, M.O.G, Octopizzo and other A-list figures. His sense of style is impeccable as he doesn't take his looks for granted.
"I shop in New York every 4 months."
The clothes I buy are usually inspired by magazines, movies, music videos and the street. I will see something I like and make it fit into my own taste and style," he told Couture Africa Magazine in their current (June 2015) issue.
The guy, noticeably tall and who rocks signature dreads did not plan to be a photographer.
"Actually I went to college on a basketball scholarship with a dream of going professional. I was studying Computer Information systems at Harold Washington University in Chicago. In my senior year of college I would find myself at art galleries more and more, I was just drawn to them," he told True African Original in 2012.
He's President Uhuru's Photographer for both official and family assignments.
"I met him first time through Nana- his niece. Back then, he was the Minister for Finance. Then we didn’t speak for a while. When he decided to run for president, he looked for me," he told Standard back in April. Since then, he sort of became his official photographer and the rest has been history.
When asked about who he thinks is the most fashionable woman in Nairobi, he said, "Annabel Onyango because she is elegant and her fashion sense is bold." So, who is Annabel? She is one of the best Kenyan fashion stylists of contemporary times. She's been featured prominently on local and international fashion diaries. She's even appeared on Citizen TV's Fashion Watch.
Despite having degrees in Environmental Studies and English Literature, she chose to pursue her passion; fashion. She curates styles for celebrities and ad campaigns. She's worked with Sauti Sol, Safaricom, Smirnoff, Guiness, Airtel Trace Music Stars Awards (stylist) among other top clients.
