Meet The Top 7 Kenyan Female Musicians Under 21

They're young and making a big impact in Kenyan music. They're shaping the future of this music industry by introducing new lyrical content as well as style. From Rapper Wangechi to Youtube sensation Elodie, I bring you the top 7 female artists to look out for in 2015. They're exceptionally talented, smokin' hot and young.

1. Wangechi (21)

The rapper is one of the fast rising in Kenya. After her guest appearance on Kaka Sungura's “Ligi Soo,” she's gone on to release hit tracks like “Attention Shopper” and most recently “Cardiac Arrest.” She's sang at an Angelina Jolie conference in the UK and has been featured by CNN Inside Africa.

2. Femi One (21)

The femcee, whose lyrical content is characteristic of witty Swahili lines has a sense of humor as well. She also appeared in the “Ligi Soo” remix. She has since worked on her own tracks, She's currently signed to Rabbit's Kaka Empire label.

3. Dom Brenda (21)

She's on a fast rise. Dom, a student at USIU has passion for music and has in the past competed in street battles, including the Nokia contest. Her recent music project is “Tujuane Tena,” a beautiful love song.

4. Noti Flow (20)

The controversial rapper is one of the top rising artistes in the country. Noti Flow has been christened the “Kenyan Iggy Azalea” because of her striking resemblance – in style – with the Australian rapper. She describes her music as new school hip hop. Here's one of her videos:

5. Kush Tracey (21)

After working under Subsahara records, which gave rise to Camp Mulla, she's gone solo. Her latest project is “Dandia Remix” which is a response to Kristoff's song by the same title. This is not her only successful project; she's previously worked with Xpat Mkwanja and has a list of amazing songs that you should listen to. They include “Manzi Wa Mtaa,” “Dogo Dogo” and “Twende.”

6. Elodie (17)

She's a Kenyan teenage sensation who has won the hearts of thousands of followers. Her approach to music is unique. She does Miley Cyrus – style covers as well as funny YouTube videos that get thousands of hits in just days. She's previously worked with top Nigerian music director Clarence Peters, who has worked with top African acts like P Square, Wiz Kid, Davido, Ice Prince and Tiwa Savage. See her video "Ayo" below:

7. Phy Ng'etich

Phy as she is popularly known came into the limelight after being one of the top contestants in Airtel Trace Music Stars, a premier Pan-African music competition initiated by Grammy Award – nominated singer Akon. She went on to be in the first season of Maisha Superstar and emerged winner, bagging the 1.2 million shilling prize.
