The notion footballers are not bright and rarely make it, academics has been debated since time both locally and internationally since majority of them are broke and live a miserable life after hanging their boots. This has been disapproved by a current crop of stars who balance the thin line between study and a demanding soccer career.

One of them; Tusker's midfielder Brian Osumba, BA Economics graduate and currently a CPA level 5 student had this to say when i interviewed him.

"I urge my fellow footballers to invest in higher education or other businesses with the little cash they get at the moment .Football is a short career where anything can happen from injuries to loss of form, I would like to advice footballers  to  emulate former greats like Doctor William Obwaka, Dan Shikanda and others who played professional soccer for both club and country but still had time for books and are now comfortable long after retiring."

Osumba says It is very challenging juggling between studies and a demanding soccer career for both club and country, alot of planning and dedication is needed with little room for error or laziness.

"You mess on the pitch you miss play time you mess with books you get E's and re sits which stalls your graduation plans."I travel alot  with the team and whenever I get back to books am relaxed and rearing to go am thirsty of books and give my best ." You have to be an early bird and create more time for your career that puts food on your table and books which are a future investment. "
