Meet Dennis Itumbi's cellmate when he was incarcerated

Dennis Itumbi made a major statement in court today.

He was ushered into the courtroom in handcuffs and clutched tightly on his hands was a book.

The book was the centre of attraction at Milimani law courts as the State House digital director was produced before the magistrate for a second time.

Itumbi who was in high spirits lifted the book up at the Milimani courts as he celebrated his release on Sh100,000 cash bail.

Itumbi held the book tightly with his handcuffed hands and did not let it go even after the handcuffs were removed.

At one point he was seen talking animatedly on the phone. All the while, Itumbi held the book tightly with his hands still cuffed and did not let it go even after the handcuffs were removed.

The book was his companion while he was incarcerated in Muthaiga police station cells for the last 5 days. The author, Indian-American neurosurgeon Paul Kalanithi, is lauded for penning his memoir.

When Breath Becomes Air is a memoir about his life and illness battling stage IV metastatic lung cancer. It was posthumously published by Random House in January 2016.

Kalanithi never lived to see who would read his book which has been hailed as to containing very real life lessons.
