Mediamax journalist to sue Governor Kiraitu's staff over Whatsapp posts

A Mediamax Media house employee has threatened to sue Meru county government employee over character assassination and defamatory remarks.

Maxuel Kamunuasi through his lawyer Kobia Michubu wants Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s communications officer, Jefferson Mwiti to be held responsible and apologize on his own words depicting Kamnuasi as corrupt and one who relies on politicians.

“We have been instructed to advise you to cease and desist from harassing, intimidating verbally attacking and verbally assaulting Kamunuasis for intent and purposes of defaming his esteemed character b, to the public or lowering his social status to right thinking member of the society,” Kamunuasi lawyer tells Mwiti through a letter in possession by the Star.

Kamunuasi avers that on May 23, 2019 Mwiti fabricated malicious sentiments, verbally attacked, assaulted, harassed and assassinated him on various social media platforms particular WhatsApp in the Meru Progressive and Mitunguu forums.

Kamunuasi says if Mwiti had any complaints regarding his profession work, he could officially file the claims to the Media house and not attack him directly.

He said Mwiti based his remarks on the Auditor General’s report, which is in public domain.

“You have an insalubrious reputation of maligning people’s names, character and personality for no reason or basis. Our client demands you do immediate unequivocal apology, unequivocal admission of liability in form of Memoto be posted in all the media platforms you had posted within seven days. We will pursue legal proceedings against you if you fail to comply,” the letter says.
