Media Max CEO Ian Fernandes resigns, board speaks out

Ian Fernandes formally announced his resignation as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mediamax to progress to another stage in his career as he pursues opportunities in new media and entertainment.

Ian is set to leave Mediamax by the end of the month and has decided to set his sights on the new opportunities that these platforms offer.

Mediamax Board of Directors thanked Ian for successful tenure in the media house.

In a statement to staff The Mediamax Board of Directors said that during his 5 year tenure as CEO, Ian oversaw the successful launch of People Daily which today is one of Kenya’s highest circulating newspapers having grown from a distribution of 5,000 copies daily. People Daily is also Kenya’s sole free newspaper.

“Additionally, he was instrumental in the successfull launch , in challenging times, of Kameme TV, Emoo FM and Msenangu FM and the remarkable transformation of K24 and the expansion of the network that includes Milele FM, Kameme FM, Meru FM and Mayian FM despite the rough media landscape”

“Acknowledging the changing dynamics in the media industry Ian will now use his long experience in both media and technology to take up a new challenge. He does this with our full support and co-operation”

“The board records its appreciation of his contribution to the development of Mediamax and wishes him every success in his new venture,”

Ian is working with the Mediamax Board and Management to ensure a smooth transition as he takes the next step in his successful career.

The Board has further appointed current COO, Kenneth Ngaruiya as the Acting CEO.
