The proverbial forty days of a thief who has been terrorizing Zimmerman residents came to an end on Tuesday, November 29 after he was caught in the act.

According to a Facebook user who posted his photos, the man was caught with stolen goods at a flat that is located near Deliverance Church in the estate.

She says the thief gained access to the compound after one of the tenants opened the gate - presumably while leaving - but forgot to lock it.

He then made his way to the fourth floor where he forcefully opened the door and carried a 13kg gas cylinder.

As fate would have it, a caretaker saw the man breaking and entering into the house and it is then that he raised an alarm prompting a crowd to gather.

The thief was reportedly taken back to the plot and given a thorough beating after which he admitted to burgling houses.

They found him with so many keys which he uses to open padlocks of the houses that he steals from.
