The young lady who is named after Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko's mother, Saumu Mbuvi, is currently pregnant with her first child. This could be good news for her and the entire family, but the same family reminisces memories of the senior Saumu Mukami Mbuvi - her grandmother.

The senior Saumu died on December 2nd, 1997. If my maths serve me right, it's now been 19 years since her demise.

By then, literally no one knew about her son, Mike Sonko. Mike was still a very young man 19 years ago and he had not been thrust in the public limelight by then. However, the young man rose to become a powerful politician, who dreams that one day he will become Kenya's president.

We wish him well.

In his mother's remembrance, Sonko took some time to write a moving tribute to his mother. In his post on Facebook, Sonko is still pained by the passing on of his mum, in that she didn't get a moment to say goodbye to her young son.

Read it below;

"Its painful to lose a MOTHER On 2/12/1997 at around 2:57 pm, We lost our loving MUM the late SAUMU MUKAMI MBUVI: You did not get time to say goodbye to me and your entire family. It was God's wish but we believe we will one day meet again. Secret tears still flow when we think of you. Living without you is almost impossible. In life we loved you, in death we do the same. We thank God 4 letting us be part of your life. We thank God for your life, we know you are with us and keenly watching over us. Your departure really changed our lives completely. REST IN PEACE MUM GOD BE WITH YOU TILL WE MEET AGAIN."
