A photo of Miss South Africa 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters feeding black kids in Soweto, South Africa while wearing gloves has gone viral.

People are not happy with the beauty queen.

Some concluded that the fact that she had to wear gloves while working with children was a sign of racism.

This ignited mixed reactions and here are some of the comments:

Thabo: Miss SA eating with gloves on? Must be a lab experiment...

Chwayita: I've concluded that Miss SA is racist.

Sefularo: I'm extremely disgusted by the actions of Miss SA. There's no amount of reason that can justify her eating with gloves on while feeding the kids

Zandile: What message are you trying to convey as Miss SA @DemiLeighNP, that belt needs to be stripped off period! #RACIST

Benedict: If our Miss SA has put on those gloves for hygiene purposes then why didn't she put on a hair net and an apron. Aaaargh man don't fool us

Mrs. Mbatah: I really can't believe "our" Miss SA is wearing latex so that she can touch these kids!! What, is she scared of, their blackness will rub off? ?

Sefularo: Miss SA actions have no justification. THEY ARE DISGUSTING AND OF A RACISM ACT.

Mary: Why is Demi Leigh Nel Peters (Miss South Africa) wearing the surgical gloves when feeding and touching the black kids??????but for the white kids she removed the gloves.???

Jaybee: That's what happens when you do what you're not comfortable with wearing gloves while feeding "black children" she even ate with gloves, damm !!!miss South Africa for God's sake. What do you call this?

Ndlovu: Hygienic reasons my foot. What about the food she is eating with gloves? It's also dirty but it's going down her clean body. At least when eating with fork and knife it's better.

Gladys: The kids are old enough to feed themselves. She looks so uncomfortable sitting there with them in her gloves... Her charity work doesn't look so genuine after all...

Steve: That is racism nothing to hide. I think she was clever enough to clean her hands before feeding the kids rather than wearing the gloves. Hypocrisy period.

Peter: A lot of people criticize everything under the sun. This model was right to do what she did and my take is it was for hygiene reasons. That's why many of you criticizing her are still where you are 15 years ago. If you are dumb continue with that shallow argument/ criticism. Get real!!!!!!

Abdikarim: I have no problem her wearing gloves to serve these kids, I don't want anyone touching my foods with their bare hands same goes to those kids she has done a marvelous job. All I gotta say is, good job Miss South Africa.

The 22-year-old model later took to social media to defend herself and here is what she said;

"All the volunteers on site wore gloves today because we honestly thought that it's the right thing to do while working with food and while handing out food to young kids."
