The recent death of a Murang'a principal in what police officers believe could be the result of a love triangle gone sour has brought back memories of similar incidents.

Scores of Kenyans have lost their lives over the last few years after finding themselves right in the middle of such arrangements.

This often happens when one of the parties finds out that the person they thought was loyal and truthful is not what what they appear to be.

In most cases, the aggrieved party confronts the 'intruder' to warn them about meddling in their affairs and death is always the most likely outcome.

That being said, here are 5 tragic love triangle deaths that baffled Kenyans.

1. David Too

Then Ainamoi MP and traffic police officer Eunice Chepkwony were killed in Eldoret town on January, 31 2008 in what was suspected to be a crime of passion.

An officer by the name Andrew Omwenga reportedly trailed their car and shot them dead on suspicion that they were having an affair.

2. Christopher Adangi

Adangi - a credit officer - was reportedly shot dead by one Leonard Kanari after the latter found him with his girlfriend at his house in Garden Estate Nairobi in May this year.

The woman in question - Ednah Kariuki - was having an affair with both men and they had no idea.

3. Farid Mohammed

21-year-old Ruth Wanjiru Kamande stabbed her boyfriend to death over a love message allegedly sent by another woman. The man was found lying in bed with 22 stab wounds.

4. Edinald Atieno

The fresh Kenyatta University (KU) graduate was stabbed to death in Kahawa Wendani by her lover - ex-military officer Maxwell Ochieng - after breaking up with him.

Reports indicate that the 36-year-old man stabbed her more than 22 times before he tried to kill himself using the same knife.

5. Solomon Mwangi

The body of Kiru Boys Secondary School Principal Solomon Mwangi was found dumped inside a coffee plantation after he went missing for more than a week.

Police are said to be pursuing a love triangle lead and have since arrested his wife his wife Jane  Mbuthia.
