Six years ago, a South Sudanese singing sensation by the name of Paleki Mathew, flew to Nairobi for one specific mission. To win the fourth edition of TV reality music competition, Tusker Project Fame.

She was lucky enough to be one of the finalists, after a grueling three-month battle with other contestants from the East African region. During the course of the contest, one man called Steve Nyabwa was bedazzled by Paleki's charming nature. He could not help but fall head over heels in love with her. However, the romance didn't outlive the duration of the reality show. Steve moved on.

Come, June 14, 2014, Steve tied the knot with his fiancee Lydia, at a colourful ceremony at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi. It was said to have cost the couple a whooping Sh5 million!

After her stint at the TPF Academy, Paleki went back home, where she later got engaged to celebrated SSTV English news anchor, John Garang.

The two tied the knot on Saturday in a glamorous wedding at Freedom Hall in South Sudan's capital Juba. They had their traditional Shilluk wedding last year, celebrated their beautiful union after a courtship that had lasted a few years.

Paleki, a law graduate, joined SSTV as an English news anchor after TPF but left the TV career later to work for a women empowerment NGO, South Sudanese Women Empowerment Network (SSWEN).
