KTN's Joy Doreen Biira has finally been released after spending more than 24 hours behind bars.

The business news anchor and her fiancé who goes by the name Newton were arrested on Sunday night after the Ugandan army officials raided her uncle’s home.

The two had travelled to Uganda so that she could formally introduce the man to her family and hold a traditional wedding ceremony.

Reports indicate that  she found herself trouble after taking photos of the Kasese District massacre which left more than 55 people dead.

Before her arrest, the Ugandan-born newscaster had put up a post on social media strongly condemning the attacks on palace of the kingdom that she comes from.

Biira, her fiancé and two other people were set free on Monday, November 28 after being charged with abetting terrorism.

They are all required to appear at the police station on Thursday, December 8 at 9:00 am.
