An enraged man beat senseless his wife’s lover before the victim was rescued by police within Uriri market, Migori County.

The bizarre incident happened only a day after the husband intercepted his victim’s SMS message in his wife’s phone asking the woman for a date out.

The masculine man who happens to be a proprietor of a bar and lodging within Uriri market centre then coerced his wife into a deal that saw her lover being lured into one of the lodging rooms in their business joint, where the assault happened during the day time on Saturday.

After secretly viewing the message and snatching the phone from his wife following a bitter altercation, he started chatting with the man on the other end who believed the messages were from his “Mpango wa Kando”.

The sweet-love messages from his ‘lover’ flowed into the man’s head totally blinding him, oblivious of the fact that he was playing into the hands of the angry husban.

At the end of it, the two ‘lovers’ reached an agreement that they will meet in one of the rooms in the couple’s hotel at a particular time.

Knowing very well that the husband is always away running business errands during said hour.

The wife’s lover took off for his date and on the way he kept updating his ‘bae’ on the other end that he was fast approaching the joint and she should expect him within minutes.

On the other end, the husband also kept communicating, giving directions to the room promising he will have a time of his live.

All the while the husband has kept the wife hostage by his side in the room located in the private wing of the hotel.

The husband ordered the woman to open the door when the lover knocked on the door.

And when the door was slightly opened the man reportedly jumped straight into kissing his part-time lover, only to for the poor man to find himself in a battle zone.

Heavy blows started landing on his head as he tried to defend himself.

It took five minutes of intense beating, leaving the victim unconscious. The terrified wife was screaming her head off. This alerted the hotel workers that something bad was happening.

The man was later to be rescued by security officers after he regained his consciousness and was left to go home after he recorded a statement at the local police station.

Area chief Charles Migoya, who was privy to all that took place, informed reporters that being a civil case, police allowed the couple and the victim to settle their case outside the court for harmony to continue prevailing.
