A Mombasa resident has taken to social media to give a very chilling account of how she was attacked and robbed in broad daylight in the coastal city.

She claims that many others have been attacked and relieved of their belongings at the same spot, yet nothing has been done to stop it.

Here is her account.

"On 20th December 2016, just this Tuesday, as i left for work, just outside the building i stay in, i realized i had left my phone so i went back to get it.

I made sure i had kept my phone well before leaving the house. A woman from from the same building i stay also headed to work and decided to walk together heading to stage. As we walked simultaneously the lady noticed some strange three guys behind us, she diverted and took another route while i continued walking the usual route i was used to. Only to realize shortly 3 guys behind me they took different directions and on panicking, one had already removed his machete that he was hiding under his shirt and started chasing me with it.

I was so terrified and as i was about to run for my life he reached my pace, pushed me hard to the ground and chucked away with my handbag. I screamed out for help people came out of their houses but no one helped me they just stood there looking at the direction the thieves took off and did nothing. For like 5 seconds i lay on the ground then i suddenly stood and went back home less than 100m from the place of robbery. What still baffles me is that the place i was robbed is exactly where innocent ladies get robbed every now and then with no action being taken. The area Mzee wa mtaa stays in the house where i fell down.

He knows and has heard of so many robbery incidences just outside his house but still keeps quiet and lets innocent victims like me get hurt and robbed at his doorstep. I lost my phone, some cash, my national i.d, school i.d (kenyatta University), Atm cards, silver chain. Am in so much pain on my right hand and my heart too as i narrate my incident to you. Kindly air this out to save people. We need a robbery free area and all the bandits be put to justice cause am sure the area Mzee wa Mtaa knows the bandits behind all this but keeps silent in the fear they are his relatives.

I will really appreciate if people know what is happening just outside the area Mzee wa Mtaa's house and full measures be taken. Thank you. From a crying heart."
