Business came to a standstill at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Monday, October 24 moments after Kenya's favorite band Sauti Sol landed.

The band had just arrived from Johannesburg, South Africa where they had gone to attend the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) held on Saturday, October 22.

Unlike last year, the "Sura Yako" hit makers managed to win the Best Group award beating stiff competition from the likes of R2Bees (Ghana), Toofan (Togo), Navy Kenzo (Tanzania) and Mi Casa (South Africa).

Earlier in the week, the band that is made up of Savara Mudigi, Willis Chimano, Polycarp Otieno and Bien Aime Baraza had won Best Group award at the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).

As such, their arrival in the country was highly anticipated. Reports indicate that some fans arrived at the airport as early as 9am holding placards bearing the band's name.

A number of Kenyan celebrities including Daddy Owen, Nyashinski, Wahu Kagwi and Enos Olik also made their way to JKIA to welcome Sauti Sol.

When they finally landed, the MAMA award winners were given a hero's welcome by fans who caused quite a stir since everyone wanted to take a photo with the trophy.

Surprisingly, their welcomers had come prepared as some of them had carried champagne which was popped and poured into glasses.
