A real estate developer (Hexmead Investments)  has sued Kenyan International footballer McDonald Mariga for allegedly invading a piece of land in Embakassi that it claims to have bought in 1994 and for which it has a title deed.

The firm says they discovered that the Italy-based star and his family had started construction on the disputed land in 2008 and only stopped when a demand letter was sent to his father. But years later the Mariga family embarked on the contested plot with the intention of resuming its development.

Hexmead Investments further says that they want the court to intervene and declare them the valid owner of the disputed property.

Mariga, whose club is experiencing a financial crisis, has not commented on the matter.
