Wonders will never seize. There was drama at the Iten law courts after a man who was charged with stealing two pairs of trousers appeared in court half naked .... without a trouser.

The accused was arrested while wearing one of the trousers he had allegedly stolen, and therefore it was taken by the police to be presented as an exhibit in court.

Principal magistrate, Hezron Nyaberi was taken aback when the accused Geoffrey Kipchumba was called by the prosecution to take a plea and on standing up he was only wearing a long shirt.

The court was not very pleased with how the accused was transported all the way from Tot to attend court and without a trouser and called for a mini-fundraising to buy a trouser for the accused before the proceedings could go on.

The prosecution counsel, Duncan Chelashaw, came to his rescue and gave one of the court's orderlies' money to buy a trouser for him following which the accused was given time to dress before pleading not guilty to the charge.

So, the accused was charged that on October 10 this year at Sokobora trading center at Kabirem location, Elgeyo Marakwet county, he broke and entered the house of Murkomen Kipkemoi with an intent to steal.

The accused apparently stole two pairs of long trousers and another pair of short trousers all valued at sh.1,850.

The case will be heard on December 3rd this year.
