A career journalist and long-serving information officer at the Kenya News Agency Mr. Samuel Njue Munyi who died last week will be laid to rest at his Kangaru home in Embu on Friday, September 4, 2020.

Munyi who passed away after a sudden illness while on a trip from Nyahururu was a senior editor at the Kenya News Agency [KNA] at the National Editorial Desk where he was in charge of the KNA website and social media sections.

The late Munyi served at the Vice presidents’ Press Service during the tenure of Vice President Moody Awori and Kalonzo Musyoka and had a short stint with Deputy President William Ruto before he was deployed back to the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology.

Munyi will be remembered for the revival of the agency’s website and social media outlets that saw the department remain relevant in the ever-changing world of technology since the onset of the digital era.

Colleagues at the department of information and the media fraternity at large are struggling to come to terms with the demise of Munyi whose contribution in the industry touched many from within and outside public service.

The late Munyi is survived by his wife Bernice Wanjiru and two children.
