"Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Saviour. Now, as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself," says the Bible.

Women are supposed to love and respect their husbands, according to the holy book, but at times, many fall short of the glory and do bad things, and end up in prison. We have heard several cases of Kenyan women rotting in jail for murdering their husbands and even chopping off their partners' "engines", and it seems this fad will continue, as long people still do not trust each other.

Well, Deputy President William Ruto's wife Rachel has come out to 'teach' Kenyan women how to treat their men. Speaking recently at a public function in Kakamega, Rachel advised women to respect their husbands for the sake of peace in marriage.

“My fellow women love your husbands. Don’t disrespect them, don’t fight them. The world is already harsh to them; when they come home, you should give them a peace of mind. Start calling him appealing names like ‘sweetheart’, ‘honey’; even if he had made you angry.

I know sometimes they (men) can get on our nerves. Nonetheless, we should love them for peace to prevail. When you are living in harmony with your partner, your life will be less stressful. What is this model of family structure called ‘single mother’? To me, there is nothing like a single mother. Smile charmingly, and you will find your Mr Right. Women, let us love each other. We should not despise one another. We should not perceive other women as less helpful. Let us accommodate each other. We can make money if we are united. I urge women to form groups such as table-banking. It will go a long way in solving financial problems facing women.”

Said Rachel. Do you agree with her sentiments?
