World Bank's David Wachira wed the love of his life Cecilia Olaussen.

Announcing their , the couple revealed,

"We decided to quell the uncertainty of Covid with the certainty of our LOVE. This is for our loved ones, near and far away, that could not attend our wedding due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Love always wins!"

The couple met in 2018 in Washington, DC at a World Bank Youth to Youth event.

"Our meeting was brief; however it left an indelible impression. While David was on a short mission trip to Zimbabwe, we spent countless hours talking on the phone and exchanging emails. The conversations brought our hearts together, albeit, we were thousands of miles apart."

Adding,

"Upon David’s return to DC, and emblematic of his mannerism, he sent a calendar invite for our proper first date. Several months later, David invited me to Kenya for my first visit; where we worked on two non-profit events, after which, we embarked on an unforgettable Safari. Sadly, once summer was over, David had to leave for a yearlong assignment in Zimbabwe. Despite the insurmountable distance, we made it work and had the opportunity to visit each other."

It was during these visiting trips that Cecilie fell in love with Africa.

David’s assignment ended in 2019, and he returned to Washington, DC.

David proposed to Cecilie on the November 5, 2019 during an intimate dinner gathering with close friends in Washington, DC.

As they say the rest in history.
