In a recent interview with Dr. Kingori, Bahati Constituency MP Kimani Ngunjiri expressed his belief that splitting household bills with one’s wife is not biblical.

In an undated video, he stated firmly that a man should play the role of a leader. "I don’t like this practice where you sit down with your wife and decide who pays what bills," he said, criticizing men for this approach.

"That's not good. Go to the Bible; a man must provide. What do I mean? Let mama have her money—even if it’s her salary. If you want a good life, don’t bring up the question of who will pay what bills. Provide with what you have, even if she earns more than you. Provide, whether it’s clothes or food."

He explained that such arrangements do not sit well with him, cautioning, "If you provide that way, one day she may wake up and say, 'By the way, I have this money. What do we do with it?'"

This topic gained attention in 2023 when US actress Gabrielle Union revealed during an interview with Noah Callahan-Bever on Bloomberg Originals’ series, Idea Generation, that she and her husband, NBA player Dwyane Wade, split their bills 50/50. Wade had previously told Union during an argument that they were living in "my house that I paid for."
