In our busy lives, sleep is often sacrificed in pursuit of productivity. However, getting quality sleep is essential for feeling better each day. 

First, you need to understand your sleep cycle. It's not about how long you sleep but the quality of sleep you get.

We have different stages of sleep: light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep ( where one experiences vivid dreams).

Sleep is important for the brain to adapt to input,  if we sleep little we'll have trouble remembering what we have learnt and will have more trouble in the future remembering.

Researchers also believe that sleep helps in the removal of waste products from the brain cells.

Track your sleeping patterns, create a sleep-friendly environment, optimizing of temperature by keeping your room cool, lighting, and noise levels.  

Going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day helps the body's internal clock, making it easier to fall asleep and wake up naturally.

Studies also show that certain foods may help sleep since they contain vitamins, and a well-balanced diet with adequate amounts of carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Also, certain foods and drinks may lead to lower-quality sleep.

For Example, foods and drinks containing caffeine, and alcohol, diets low in fiber, and foods low in fats.

Skipping meals, eating too much food, or close to bedtime may interfere with sleep. 

To get your body to sleep, before bed try some relaxing techniques like meditation, reading a book and even taking warm showers.

Lack of sleep also poses some health risks like depression, high blood pressure, seizures, and heart attack. 

Getting better sleep is essential for your overall health and well-being. Good sleep helps you remain focused and energized.  It supports your mental and physical health.
